What to Expect
Speaker: Joe Alexander - Survivor of 12 Concentration camps
Born in 1922 in Kowal, Poland, Joe Alexander and his family enjoyed a comfortable life until Nazi Germany invaded Poland in 1939. From Kowal, the Nazis sent Mr. Alexander to 12 different concentration camps, including Dachau and Auschwitz-Birkenau. In the aftermath of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, he was sent from Auschwitz back to the Warsaw Ghetto to assist with the clean up of the destruction. As the Polish Home Army advanced toward Warsaw, the Nazis sent Mr. Alexander to camps in Germany, then on a death march.
