What to Expect
Ever think of becoming a volunteer in Israel? Well this is your lucky day. We are honored to have Wendy Anson as our guest presenter. Recently returned from a volunteer stint in the Holy Land, Wendy will tell us about current opportuinites to be of service to Israel during these remarkably trying times, and ways to help finance your journey too.
Wendy first went to Israel at 15 years of age, after graduating Hebrew High School. The graduates worked and studied at Meir Shefeya, an agricultural high school in Zichron Yaakov. A few years ago she volunteered for a couple sessions at Sar El, and then remained in Israel and made Aliya. On 7 October -- the day of the autrocity -- Wendy happend to be visting the US. She immediatley returned to volunteer in Israel for 5 months where she sorted fruit, gave reiki to evacuees and soldiers at the Michael Levin Lone Soldier Center, tied tzitzit, etc. While there, she and some friends thought a "boots on the ground" collection of tips might help other prospective volunteers. Wendy is here to pass along those helpful ideas to fellow members of B&B.By the end of this presentation, we hope you will be able to identify resources to help you make an informed decision about volunteering in Israel either as part of an organized Volun-Tour or independently. You will learn about the many types of organizations with which you can volunteer or how to do it flying solo.
We are honored to note that Wendy was very happy to be introduced to Bullets and Bagels by her close family members, all of whom are proud members of B&B, David, Renae Jacobs, and Jeff Anson. We love having entire extended families as members of our wonderful club.
