Bullets & Bagels, in conjunction with Chabad Center for Jewish Life - Newport Beach, is pleased to host an evening to share the incredible life story of the late Tibor Rubin (z'l'), United States Congressional Medal of Honor recipient.
Tibor Rubin has the distinction of being the only Holocaust survivor to receive the Medal of Honor -- for valor, during the Korean War. The program will present his remarkable history of survival, perserverence, bravery and inverterate humility.
Born to a Hungarian Jewish family, as a teenager Rubin was sent to Mauthausen and Gunskirchen Concentration Camps. After liberation, he immigrated to the United States. Determined to "give back" to the country he associated with his freedom, Tibor joined the U.S. Army, and displayed amazing courage as a combatant and prisoner of war in Korean, despite having a rabid anti-Semite as his first sergeant.
